Workshop On Taxation
A workshop on Taxation and Income Tax was held on 19th November 2018 for the students of classes X-XII. Dr. Aditya P. Bhardwaj, IRS and Asst. Commissioner of Income Tax working with the Dept. of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India, conducted the workshop.
Through an interactive session including real life examples and short stories, students were apprised about why we pay taxes and he drove home the fact that all public utilities are kept in good condition by the government with the help of the taxes paid by the people. He spoke about direct and indirect taxation and how the government tries to minimise discriminatory taxes. He also discussed how a clean and efficient government free from corruption can help in improving the lives of the people. He emphasised that having a mantra in life to reach one’s goal , using creative skills and reducing screen time will help students to use their time constructively.
The queries of the students about GST, subsidies, tax rebate for women, how to become an IRS etc. were cleared by him in a simple and lucid manner. The session was extremely motivating and beneficial for all.
